You won't be sorry. I have been working on mine since January, and I really love every minute. Build it the way you want it. A friend (the local Hooter's manager) pointed out this morning that when it's finished I can say I built that! Take that Obama. It will be a great day when yours arrives. Congratulations!

I also promised all the Hooter's girls the first ride. Hope they don't all spit in my food when they don't get it.

Great news Bill! I was thinking that this might be a good time for you. Did you pick up a base kit? Are you going to sell off the body or did they give you a decent credit? When is the delivery? Does this mean I have to travel out to Palm Springs again to act as advance scout? ;)

Hey Bill, got another - real - question for you. Are you going to use your blog on this site for the build?

Once I get the kit from Bruce, I should have it completed and painted in 2 or 3 months.

Hello Bill. In my humble opinion the 289FIA is the best looking of the bunch. I'm looking forward to you build.
Thanks for sharing!
Andrew
Ps. I'm going to send a PM as well.

The kit is now in the hands of Bruce Chervanek in PA undergoing transformation into a 289 FIA

I talked to Bruce this week. He is beginning the frame mods and setting up to layup the footboxes. When I get pics I'll post them.

On another note, I found a place that offers a Weber manifold with the correct carb orientation and the twin water inlets. So I ordered one with an estimate ship date of 3/22. I'll send the manifold out to be port matched and the runners polished. Then it's off to Carbs Unlimited for installation of the 48 IDA Webers modified for low RPM drivability. I also ordered phenolic spacers as used on the GT40's to insulate the carbs from the engine heat.

Jim Inglese sells the water inlet manifold/fuel distribution manifold with the fuel lines that is 100% period correct. I'll get that soon too.

Can't wait to get the car here to assemble
