I need to remove my CV joints from the IRS pumpkin so that I can replace them with the new CV joints that will be shipping from FFR in the next few weeks.
One of them simply came out with no trouble when I pulled it straight out. The other is giving me trouble and doesn't budge no matter how hard I pull on it. Is there a trick to removing it?
Thanks

It should come out with a little force. Try prying between the pumpkin and the joint.

Thanks Mike -
It just doesn't want to budge. I will give it another shot tonight.

Sometimes it take extra force. W/ all the rounded surfaces it's sometimes hard to get a good effect from a prybar. I have quite often hit the CV housing w/ a big hammer to get it to pop loose. Ideal would be a brass hammer held against the CV and being hit by a small sledge hammer. A block of wood could be used instead of the brass hammer.

OK, I finally had some time to really send on this. I tried prying and pulling and everything imaginable, but couldn't get it loose. Finally, I just pulled as hard as I could and ended up pulling the joint right off the CV housing (closest to the pumpkin). Since I have the replacement CV's (full assembly), I am more concerned about damaging the pumpkin than the CV. Any suggestions????

Just pop it out with a large screwdriver or prybar placed between the housing!!!

You may need to open up that pumpkin and see what's going on.

Finally got it. Since only one of the joints was stuck, I was able to get a long thin screwdriver and knock it out from the inside. Not my favorite solution, but it worked. Got the new CV Joints in place and plan to get the rear wheel assemblies back on tomorrow.

Do you old inner CV Joints have the ABS Tone rings on them? If so, are you interested in selling them? I need a set for the traction control Im installing.

^I am pretty sure I have a set of axles with the tone rings still attached, and I know I have a new set that I pulled off of the FFR front hubs. I will check this evening. If so, I'll just ship them if you PM me your address.
