I just got the new KMS Tools flyer and it got me thinking. They have a spray booth in Coquitlam that they rent to hobbyists. Their ad says they can
- rent you the booth
- do the work for you
- Give a private lesson
- teach you in a class
I'm wondering if there might be enough by local builders that are looking to do their own bodywork and paint that they could put put together a class(s) covering the basics of bodywork and painting geared primarily to the FF bodies.
Any interest?

It would be great to work alongside a pro, both helping and learning, about how to do it correctly.
I gather this is for paint only, so the bodywork would have to have already been done to the prep stage? Any mention of cost?

The only reference to cost was $199.95 rental; it didn't say what that was for. I know they do put on classes on body work, painting, repair etc but that may be more for conventional bodied cars. I suspect if there was enough interest they might be able to make the arrangements geared more towards our cars. It is in their interests to promote and assist as they sell all the tools and supplies one would be using.
Although my FF roadster is complete, I do have another project I'll be starting on :-) If there was some interest from the local guys I'd be happy to make some calls, see what if anything could be arranged and then report back.

I'm interested. I just started my 33 build and plan on doing my own bodywork and paint.

I thought I would update this - I have spoken with the fellow that puts on the painting and body prep classes at KMS. His name is Bodo. He would be interested in putting on a class addressing body prep and painting for a group of FF builders. The format can be modified but essentially he would go over the do's and don'ts, how to's, tips and tricks, materials etc. My understanding of his background is he has 40+ years in body/collision repair (20 in Germany, 20+ in Canada). He is involved with a group of Corvette owners in the Abbotsford area as an enthusiast/owner and assists them. He would do this outside of KMS; best would be at someone's house where they are building and at the bodywork stage to use a car as an example. The cost would be maybe $200 for a group of, say 6 - 8 people ($40-$50 each).
Although my roadster is completed my next project is a 1972 Corvette that I will probably be preping and painting.
If there is any interest I will speak further with him and try and get some workable dates, a little tighter on agenda.
PM me here or or over at ffcars.com.

If you can get him there for $40-50 per head to guide you it is a fantastic deal.....Steven
