I've been working on (fretting over) an apparent engine /trans "alignment" problem as was posted on the "other Forum".
http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/298333-engine-alignment-ok-solutions-what-do.html

And it turns out part of the problem may be the engine mounts ....

My sense is the engine mounts should be attached to the engine so that the "stud" of the mount goes thru the "slot" toward the front of the chassis mount pad ... as seen in the picture below (my current passenger side). And the "locating" bump should be in the round hole toward the rear of the chassis mount pad.

It should NOT look like my current drivers side (as in this 2nd picture) with the "stud" in the round hole and the "bump" in the "slot".

I looked up the ES Mustang mounts (and yes, they are ES mounts Jeff - my error on the other post :) )using Google ..... and the Jegs web site indicates the mounts should be left and right "sided" http://www.jegs.com/i/Energy-Suspension/355/4-1124G/10002/-1?parentProductId=

The Mk 4 "Build site" also indicates the mounts are very similar - but slightly different. http://mk4build.com/manual/doku.php?id=engine_mounts

I took my mounts off the engine and they appear to be identical (3rd picture) - right down to the numbers and etc molded into the black polyurethane portion of the mount.

Seems like I received two (2) passenger side mounts ? :(

Does that make sense .... or am I missing something?

Thinking I need to call FFR tomorrow and get their perspective ...and hopefully a replacement driver side mount :)

Thanks for any input and perspective ...

Lynn

I agree it looks like you have two PS mounts. I just went out and looked at my Mk3, also with a 5.0 and Energy Suspensions mounts I purchased directly from FFR.

- The PS has 1 pin toward the back, with the bolt toward the front. Exactly the same as your picture.

- The DS the pin and bolt are above/below each other. The bolt in the upper slot, the pin in the lower. There is nothing in the rear chassis slot.

This is different than what you have pictured. My parts are a couple of years old. Unless something has changed what you have doesn't look right.

Yep - I talked with Dan at FFR, and he's in agreement that I somehow got two (2) PS mounts.
Looks like something may have happened on the packaging line at ES and the wrong stuff got into the box.
We're working on the details of getting me a DS mount - and all will be good.

I continue to be impressed with the support from FFR ... and the value and expertise of the Forum family!

Thanks!
