View Full Version : Different engine mounts ... why and what?

I'm still messing with my engine/trans mount and engine/trans alignment situation - and in my searching for solutions, fixes and comments, I've noticed several posts dealing with changing from the ENGINE mounts that were included in my MK4 complete kit to something else ... typically to the Energy Suspension polyurethane mounts.

Several comments threads also discuss use of mounts from a convertible --- as an alternate I guess to coupe mounts (?)

My question is two fold:

1. Why should a change be made ... e.g. what benefit would I see.

2. What specifically should I consider as "alternate" mounts.

Engine being installed is a 5.0 from an '89 Mustang GT. Trans is a T-5 from the same car - but modified for mid-shift with an S-10 tail shaft etc

Thanks

Lynn

The poly mounts included in the Mk4 complete kit ARE Energy Suspension mounts, or at least they were when I built #7276.

Specifically what are you trying to fix by changing to different mounts?
