How the heck did I overlook this ten years ago? I like Westerns and Sci-Fi, so a 26th century western is right up my alley.

A series that originally aired in 2002 and 2003.

Watching it now. Watched the whole series on netflix last year but more than happy to watch again. Even the wife is getting into it this time.

The movie and subsequent series was very well done. Writing, acting, story line - this show had it all. Too bad it didn't really catch on 10 years ago.

I caught part of the reunion show Sunday, but also made sure to add it to the DVR. Will be watching it soon. Great series - wasn't sure at first when I picked it up on DVD, but definitely agree with Joe that it' a great combination of westerns and sci-fi. They mentioned on the show the chance of another movie or maybe another shot at TV. Hey - if Arrested Development can do it, why not Firefly?

I got hooked 10 years ago when it first came out. I couldn't believe something so well written got canned so fast. It never had the chance to find it's audience. Impatient networks and network shareholders!

Like any great sci-fi series, the key is the backstory- and it never really got told to the extent that Josh Whedon and the writers had it developed. Then they had to 'hurry up' the storyline in the movie Serenity, and alot seems to have gotton lost. If they ever do pick it back up, I hope the movie is kinda put to the side.

The joys of Netflix! Only one gets killed off in the movie, so it might be easy to incorporate the movie into a "continuation" of the series. Although, most of the actors have gone on to pretty big roles elsewhere, I doubt they would want to go back and restart Firefly, as much as the fans would love that.
