I know that I have seen body bucks for the Roadster and GTM on the forum. This is a question to Roadster and GTM owners . Does the directions book for the kit include specs for making the body buck? I know I'll need one while I am working on the frame and want to use one for painting the body. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

no, but the 818 has individual panels right? maybe one for the rear? a simple plywood/2x4 setup works. good to put casters on the bottom, to move around.

The Manual does not include the body buck build instructions.
If the individual panels can be fastened together while separated from the chassis we should be able to easily alter the GTM or Roadster plans to accommodate the 818 body. If not, we'll need a new solution. I'm sure once the kit in hand someone will quickly create a great solution.
I've attached links to Pete Dove's GTM and Stan's Revised Roadster body buck plans for reference.

Thanks for the reply's. I will make my own when I get my kit. I'll pull measurements from the chassis. Thanks again.

I see no reason to make a body buck for the 818. All the panels are fairly small.

It is a way to hold the parts while you are working on the chassis and for them to be painted off the chassis. You don't have to have one. It is up to the builder. A personal preferance so to speaf. TEHO..

If you have separate panels, you have seams. You can't effectively paint into the seams if the panels are somehow attached together. You'd still have to paint the seams with the panels apart, then assemble everything and paint the surfaces.

You are correct about the painting part. Maybe my use of the term body buck is incorrect. I restored a 78 Vette and made a body holder (for lack of a better term) that held the body while doing a frame off resto. This is more what I meant. I guess I was not very clear on my needs. Thanks to all for the input. I need to make something anyway that will work for me. I will post it when done if it would benefit others.

This is somewhat related to the bodybuck question. Will the "no paint panels" be shipped like the bodies are shipped now? If so how will they be protected? I have seen new cars transported with a film over their bodies. Also, if you have your 818 body supported on a bodybuck there is the chance of scratches and such during the storage and moving around in the garage. I have been pretty careful with my roadster body but over the time I have stored it, it has quite a few surface scratches. Of course, I haven't worried because of the necessary bodywork. I haven't heard discussion addressing this rather new process. Thanks, WEK.

Along these same lines...
It would be nice to have frame support point coordinates so I can build a chassis stand that clears the piping, suspension etc. Of course that's a long way off.
