Just did a quick search. Sometimes the searches are not as good but if you just enter automatic you will get more than you can handle. FFR doesn't support the install of an automatic but you could be the first. I think it is really worth a good look even if the automatic is a couple inches longer and there are a few other hurdles. BTW, what is your potential donor? Good luck, WEK.

I wouldn't worry about it being auto. You can get a working 5mt for 800 bucks and sell the auto on eBay to someone needing a new one for probably the same amount, for the most part the auto trans in the WRX is the same as found in the Forrester and legacy (I'm not sure what years/models it's an exact fit for though). The swap is easy as well including re-flashing the ECU with the MT version of the OEM tune (or just getting an aftermarket tune).

Further, auto wrx's are rarely driven as hard as the manual versions meaning everything else will probably be in better shape. Get that donor and trade the transmission unless you want auto and it turns out it's compatible.

i am holding off for a few personal reasons but one related to the car is to see if it is officially auto compatible or someone is brave enough to try it out first

is this something someone can ask at SEMA to see if its something being considered before launch of the S?
