So, I'm starting the planning phase of a Roadster. I have a '96 Cobra that I'm going to use for a parts car. I'll pull off as much as I can including the 32V engine and sell the rest.
Question, since my '96 Cobra has a Viper T-56, 6 speed in it right now; can I use the transmission in the Factory Five Roadster?
I'm actually thinking about using an independent rear end. Good, bad or indifferent with the T-56?

I think I read that the IRS is a must with that transmission. Otherwise the drive shaft will be too short and bind as it travels through its range.

Here is a good thread from FFR, essentially their official position on what transmissions will and won't work:

Hi David,
We installed a Tremec T56 Magnum in our Mk4 with a 351W Dart aluminum block and an IRS, and it works great. However, the driveshaft needs to be shortened. Also, we had to modify the trans A-frame mount that FFR supplied with the Mk4 Complete Kit. I wrote a book about building the Mk4. It's a CarTech Books publication titled, "How To Build Cobra Kit Cars + Buying Used." In this test drive article that I have on my website, there is a photo of the supplied driveshaft and the shortened driveshaft. Here's the link: http://www.redlinereview.com/factory-five-racing-mk4-cobra-test-drive.htm. Best of success with your build!
Regards,
Brian
