You too:p lol,,,,Btw the fu@#$#$#$%^king storm just blew the wind next to my garage so hardit knocked over my brand new Koyo Radiator, It messed the fines up a bit, and bent the overflow flange and put a crack in that. Not happy, but I will have to repair or put a clam in etc. I have measured 68, 71 and just 73mph gust in Exeter R.I. It is getting progressively stronger here.

Yea, that was my little dream too :(. But, I am willing to wait for my 818-S no matter how long it takes! Personally, if they don't have the rollup windows when I receive it I will start to build it and whenever they offer the roll-up windows I'll just add them on later. If they don't offer that as an add-on option (which I honestly don't see why they wouldn't) then I'l just sell it and build another 818-S that is compatible with the windows!

I wouldn't any add-ons down the road be compatible with the current car. There's not going to be any significant changes to the chassis or body. And with the first Cars not scheduled to roll out for 8 months I would think they would have the windows figured out by then.

All good points, but my budget is tight and I don't have the money to waste. Therefore, prudence dictates I wait. I'm not good at waiting. I dislike prudence immensely. :(

True. $99 is not a lot of money. Some may pony that up just to secure a place in line, and make their firm decision later. I'm guessing that as actual production gets closer, FFR may ask us for a second, larger deposit. Maybe $1000 or so. I think I would have paid that today.............

My original intent for the thread was to simply get a list of those that ACTUALLY paid the deposit, not just a "oh, this would be fun". Trying to gauge who is ready to go today as is (with some changes) vs those that want to wait vs those that don't have the means or desire to .

From everything I have seen, and as long as FFR comes through with the no-paint panels, the 818 WILL just about assemble itself.

The only "work" to do seems to be trimming the wiring, bending the brakes lines, and getting it aligned well enough to drive to the alignment shop. Everything else seems to be a bolt-on.

Haha! :p But yea PhyrraM, I agree completely with you! No body work etc... It'll cut the build time considerable vs having a hand-laid fiberglass body! But, we do still have to put the engine in don't we??? ;)

Dave Smith & Jim both stated that production woulld start around 1 818 per week :(. Then later on after it's been in production for a while they would speed the process up. But, Dave Smith posted something via David Hodgkins that makes me slightly re-think what I have just said.......

Guys, I had originally planned to discuss some major new initiatives at Factory Five, and I know that many of you were anxious to hear the three new items....All of that went out the window as the direct in-person response to the 818S and 818R was beyond anything I expected. I spent the week slowly realizing that the interest in the new car MUST drive (and change) my tactical plan. As it is now, I am making some major changes to my company's tactical plan, that involves shifting resources, adding crew, and soliciting even more help from our partner companies, customers and community..... ALL focused on the successful launch of the 818 model in an accelerated time frame without compromising the quality (frankly, needing to increase the launch quality) of the car and launch.

Bottom line is that while I may have, what I consider to be a great tactical plan, all of that has to take a back seat to the legitimate groundswell of passionate interest in our latest car model. I have to, in this case, listen to those who pay our rent. I'll have much more detail upon return from SEMA, and ask for your continued patience. HUGE thanks to all the FFR folks who stopped by and said hello at the show and especially a huge thanks for the very kind words on the 818. You guys have inspired the design team and FFR guys. We are very pleased with the reception of the concept and car and I promise only that we will redouble our efforts to make sure we are deserving of your support!

If memory serves me correctly the GTM was originally intended to only be offered to current FF customers on limited bases. That car grew into their flagship car. FF gave the public what they wanted.

I am sure they had great expiations for the 818, but it is possible the interest/ real world demand is much higher than originally anticipated. If this is true, FF has some big challenges ahead; going from the originally anticipated low volume hand crafted 1-2 car per week to even 10/week will be a huge undertaking.
I don’t expect much change initially; I suspect the production date may be pushed up a couple months. Then as demand continues they will go to a second shift and then add a second production line, but I don’t think we will see a huge jump in production but an accelerated production schedule. I think they will be able to get to 10/week by the end of next year.

You guy's will be surprised at what FFR will be able to do to get a quality product into your hans as soon as possible. There will need to be welding jigs and stations set up as well as parts ordered, etc. Remenber they still are producing and delivering the other five products at the same time.

Not sure they will ever see 10 a week. I doubt they would be limited by in house stuff. It can be hard to find good vendors that can deliver quickly for a relatively small company. Think of the various backordered parts from the Roadster. Most of them are from an outside source or need some type of work that is not done in house. Powdercoating alone could be a big backlog.

Haha, this list is by no means official! Dave Smith stated earlier in the week that he already had over 100 pre-orders for the 818-S alone & we don't see that here. What it most likely is is SEMA people ordering it or just FFR owners who don't have an account set up on this forum. I don't know what there production rate is now but I don't think they will more then 3-4 week. Really not a good financial Decision to add all kinds of production costs to sell 100 units. I know more people will order but not at the rate as at launch.

First of all, they don't have a production rate right now due to the 818 not being released yet. In Post #138 I stated that FFR would manage between 1 & 2 per week when they launch it(Dave Smith stated this a while back). Their pre-orders for both just keep climbing :D!

If we've this many guys ordering, have logins for the forum, and admitting they've paid by posting in this thread, imagine the length of the official list.

Timmy I obviously know its not being produced yet. My response was for people saying they hope to see 10 a week. Anybody know how many cars they produce a week now and with how many employees? You could easily guesstimate how much bigger they would have to get to produce 10 a week then. What's the Total number of Cars ff has produced and how many years it took to do it. I don't see a kit built car(even one as great as this ones gonna be for FF) that could support 520 cars a year.
