I saw it the other day and remember saying to myself that is is nephariously close to the headers, it is far enough away but definitly close. Its running on the outside of the header, I don't believe i used the bracket, I believe it is still attached to the cable but not being used as the cable is routed so that it supports itself........will check it in person tommorrow to let you know for sure.

The cable comes close to but should not touch the headers. I recommend you use the bracket. I was able to prevent header contact in part by using the bracket on the 3/4" tube at the point where it turns in toward the engine.

I replaced the cable FFR supplied with a '94 - '95 Mustang 5.0 cable which is 3" longer. Lots of clearance. I did have to make an aluminum spacer. Check out these photos.

I was thinking about the adapter and how it could be a problem if you don't have a lathe or a friend with a lathe. I think you could make a bushing out of either aluminum tubing or dowel. Just find some with a close fit to the inside of the adjuster and drill to fit the cable end. Heck, I bet you could even use a piece of wooden dowel...nobody would ever see it...and there isn't any real movement of the outside cable cover. Just a thought.
