I recently sold my house bought a larger property. As part of the process I investigated my options for Internet, phone and TV. I was working with Dish Network on a bundled service and was told I could get all three for about $160 a month. I agreed and the rep signed me up with the phone and Internet being bundled through AT&T. What I didn't know is that he lied to me as they haven't had a contract with them for several years now and took my personal information and committed me to a two year contract with AT&T for over $150 a month for just the phone and Internet. This is additional to the DISH service for &150 a mont. there is no way in hell I'm paying over $300 a month for the 3 services. When I discovered the lie and deceit because I got a bill from AT&T I called DISH and was told I was past the "cancellation period for misinformation" that I would be charged $402 to cancel. After many phone calls and rants on their Facebook page I was blocked from any posting and they won't even respond to my calls. Save yourself the headaches and don't do business with Dish Network.

I think All the network companies are thieves. I'm seeing the same thing at verizon: fios internet + home phone line for $65.00/mo. promised no rate hike for 24mos. Bill has already gone up 30% just in the first year. I just got a vcr that connects to internet modem and recieves netflix for 7.99/mo. unlimited viewing. Will be cutting some channels on directv once I get netflix set up. You can also get the OOMA box that runs your phone through your internet, $150 for the box, free after that. If you have Charter cable down there, they're offering

We have the same problem in Canada with our telecom, cable and satellite providers -- and have had for years.

I go into business with them under the assumption they will eventually try and screw me over so I plan and govern my actions (and account) accordingly. The score at this point is: TURBOGUY 5 BMF 0.

you have decribed my setup... Cable for internet and basic channels, netflix through my panasonic blueray player, ooma box with google voice virtual phone number to my cell phone, free long distance through the google number and ooma

works fine except can't call my home number from cell phone, you just get the voice mail box, so I have to call my wife's cell or the business # to call home

ooma only $50 @ amazon.com

Edit: Comcast for internet, like most no choice. Their TV service costs waaay toooo much! I had dish for years long ago, was transferred from Primestar in the old days, I loved their TV service, just needed cabl;e for internet. Now I'm too cheap to pay that much for 100 chanels when I only watch 4-5

I'm hoping DirecTv is better, I just ordered their package. If I have to listen to one more
apology from Comcast, I'll blow my brains out. Comcast Customer Guarantee - when we hit
rock bottom, we will break out the heavy machinery and start digging... I have to stay
with Comcast for internet since we have no other alternative - too far from the CO for Verizon.
They tried to provision DSL, after 13 days and 7 technicians, it connected for a whole 2.5
hours before it disconnected and wouldn't reconnect. I gave up.

Sorry to here you've been mistreated.

I've been a Dishnetwork customer (Only Sat Service, No bundles, No AT&T) Since 2002. I was stationed in HI initially and have moved three times. I've experienced nothing but excellent customer service.

I've dealt with AT&T in the past and can not say the same.

Where I live it's Comcast or Direct TV.
Comcast or Commiecast as they are known up here is the worst company I ever dealt with.
Changed my service with Adelphia just before Comcast bought them out and short version is someone lost the papers for the change.
They did the changes but continued to bill me for the old higher amounts.
Refused to pay them, 3 months later they send a gorilla to my door to get their boxes and lets just say that I can pass for a shorter version of Grizzly Adams, put on my "Don't F with me face" but he was there to play so we did..Pointed my good friend S&W at his head and said "Leave while you can"
Funny thing is I've never heard a word from them since..
TV is through Direct TV and painless once it finally was installed.

I have Time Warner, and have for years. I live in BFE, and it's either them or one of the dish services (at one time I sold and installed the big dishes and had a 9'). I've always complained and had problems, but from everything I've read about other services (have friends with Dish), I think they're all imperfect. Some of it is the person you talk to. I finally got my biggest problem fixed (the cable down the side of the house was too small and couldn't handle any internet bandwidth, so my router was constantly down, replaced it and most of my problems went away). Good luck and hope you all get your problems fixed.

The technical aspect of "Dish Network" has improved here in AZ. They were subcontracting their installers/trouble shooters and it didn't work very well to the point they started employing the installers. My last encounter with them turned out to be a good one because of the above change. I got three locations set up in our addition and cleaned up some old issues. The guy was very efficient and it still took 4 hrs to do the job.

I think the main problem is when you bundle these services. I wouldn't do it as the companies can't manage their relationships with the partners very well. If they can't manage them, how would you be expected to keep up with it. It is an ever changing business landscape and getting tied into a long term contract will hamper you if new and better technology and deals come along say in six months. That's about how this stuff is turning over. Sorry you had a bad experience. I guess I have been somewhat lucky. Good luck in the future. WEK.
