I was looking at the "What you need" section on the FF website and was wondering if anyone knew if that was up to date? If I was planing on going with a JDM twin turbo engine and trans package and wilwood brakes all around..the rest doesnt look that bad to just buy piecemeal....? just a thought

I haven't looked at the list lately, but had a very similar question to you when we started (and before we started) the build. As we are nearing the finish, I can tell you that I have a shelf full of parts that came with the kit from Factory five that I won't be using, some by choice and many just didn't work with the configuration I am doing. Likewise, I have a shoebox full of receipts for things that didn't come with the kit that I did need.

So now I will soon be holding a sale hoping to recoup some of the dollars I spent on parts in the kit that didn't end up being used.

Not sure how I would have known until going through the build process, but if doing it again, i would have just got the base kit and bought the other parts I needed as I went. And I sure wouldn't have gone out and bought all the pieces on the "What you need" list (I built with a Coyote) upfront because there were several that I didn't end up using. (I'm talking about specific adaptors, hoses, clamps, etc, not the major components).

You do realize this is the 818 we're talking about here???

I assume Slider knows that and was making a parallel.

My take:

If you wsh to be an early builder expect a to search out a few extra parts and have a few things extra from your donor stash. Expect a few parts runs for wiring and hardware.

If you want to have a clear-cut "need/don't need" list with no suprises, plan to build after a few kits are completed and write-up are posted.
