I find new ways to use the 4 post lift all of the time. It is a tool and if you look at it that way you continually find new ways to make your life a bit easier. I recently bought a new truck to replace one of the aging trucks in our fleet. The previous truck was a Ranger as well but it was a standard cab versus the new one being an extended cab. I extended the rack 14" forward to accommodate for the extended cab. Having a tubing bender and a couple of welders save me the time and expense of having someone else doing it. I also repainted it to make it look just as it was when it was new. The 4 post lift came in to play when I had no one around to lift it on to the back of the new truck today to secure it to the truck. Here it is waiting to be placed on the back of the truck.

Positioned, then slid on to the truck ready to be secured/

All bolted in and ready to roll. Looks great!

Tool boxes will be next. Still need to clean them up and mount them on to the truck. Stay tuned.

I have used mine as an engine hoist, staging for painting the ceiling in my garage and a few other things.

That lift is great. My nephew has one in his garage. My garage ceiling is too low. Maybe I can talk my wife into extending it into my 2nd floor bedroom. Yeah right. There was a thread where someone did that. Was that you?

Frank,

Are you going to anchor the lift or is that not necessary? Also, have you used it for anything yet on the roadster. I thought I read a thread where you loaned it out to David H, not sure. I never planned on a lift like that but after trying to work under the roadster, I'm having second thoughts. Thanks, WEK.

I also keep finding uses for my bendpak 4 post
Ill be storing two Miatas in one bay this winter and my garage is only 8 foot 6 inches high
I use my aluminum ramps as the ramp on my 8.5 w x 16 long enclosed trailer
I've worked on motorcycles, tractors, cars, and even a chicken tractor
so much easier to work when stuff is at the correct height and it's easy to move with 4 car dolleys!

Mine is anchored, it's not made to be moved because it's a bigger model with the overhead cylinder. I built a tire storage rack in front of mine up by the ceiling.
The lift makes it easy to take the heavy 65lb wheel/tires up and down from there. When I drop the engine in my 33 I plan to put the rear of my car on the lift and raise it up
a bit while leaving the front wheels on the floor. This attitude works well to stuff the tranny/engine in the car. It works a lot better on cars without the X-frame though.

Sorry WEK, Just saw your question. Anchoring the lift is not required. Most garage floors throughout the country are not completely level, they have a bit of pitch to them to enable water to flow out towards the door. Mine however is dead flat making it a bit easier to work on the car and not have it roll. This came in handy when doing the clutch on David's car.........Twice. Disconnecting the driveshaft requires turning the pinion to gain access to all 4 bolts. I have used to lift for maintenance on the Roadster, brake job on the sister in laws car and just today to check the toe in on the work truck. I will have to say that it gets it's most use in storing the Roadster. My favorite use for it is detailing the Roadster. It sure makes cleaning the wheels and tires a breeze. As far as tools go it is one of the best investments I have made to date. I picked mine up gently used for under a grand. Hope this helps.
