Sitting in my Budweiser folding chair at the last cruise-in of the season and two guys come walking over to look at the car. The first guy asks if it's a Factory Five, so I said it was and that I had just finished it. The second guy says his friend has a "real one" that was made in South Africa! I made a quick decision not to embarrass the guy by schooling him on the various replicas, so i just smiled and shut up.

You're too kind! I would have asked him what his CSX frame number was. WEK.

I agree ^ !! There is no way I would let that guy go off unschooled (if that's a word).

It's easier to just smile and let it go!

My family doctor claims his is a "real one" made in South Africa. I don't argue too hard. He is keeping me alive.

Hey, I have one of them there South African cars and I wouldn't have cut him any slack. Never told anyone mine was real, well a "real" car maybe but not a real "one".

FYI, I'm here 'cause I'm trying to learn about the Challenge Series cars, I want something lighter and faster.

i to go to the auto parts store up the street regularly. (they know me by name-ask me all the time when i'm gonna move in and change my address) whenever they hire someone new i go to them and with a straight face ask for a "fetzer valve" for a '68 plymouth fury. who says you have to spend money to have fun?!

My friend has a Shelby Continuation CSX which he bought 4 years ago. I acutally was worked on by Superformance in South Africa. It has a CSX # so the statement could be loosely translated as true. It is not a true 'original' but in some people's lingo from Shelby American which is as close as you can get to original.

It seems that everyone that I have ever met knows someone that has a "real" one. They must have made more Cobras than model-Ts.

It boggles me how so many people at work think I'm building a mustang, I tell them that I have a mustang gas tank and rack...that's pretty much all the mustang parts.
I work with a bunch of idiots and just stopped talking cars to them :)
