View Full Version : Shifting from 5th to 4th
I have a TKO 500 Tremec. When driving in 5th gear and slowing down for exit ramp etc. and shifting to 4th gear, the shifter always gets stuck in between gear. I have to keep clutch in while I play with the shifter trying to find 4th gear. Any answers for this?

Double clutching and synchronizing the engine/transmission revs for 4th would help, most likely. However, that means waiting 'between gears' too.

I've had similar issues with a TKO-600 which is essentially the same transmission. I've found that when I try to pull it from 5th to 4th quickly it hangs up, sometimes it finds the path towards reverse. When I pull it to the neutral position and then let it center with a brief or slight pause it can then be guided into 4th. I do not like this shift and don't use 5th when driving hard either street or track.
