I'm beginning to look at heat/sound proofing matertials. Looking at the Quad Mat. Any feedback regarding this or other products. I really don't want to spray anything, but at the same time, worry if these product really hold up, loosen etc. over time. I also see Quadmat offers a 1/2" thicker product---would 1/2" be too thick to put all around, or just on the foot boxes. Again, any help is much appreciated!

I used Rattletrap insulation in the truck, footwells, tunnel, rear bulkhead............pretty much everywhere. A cheaper version of a Dynamat-type insulator. Prior to installing carpet, will put down an additional layer of insulation....something like 1/4" jute padding. There are tons of choices out there.1205812059

All I used is an inexpensive insulation called EZ Cool( EZ Cool Automotive Insulation heat barrier and noise reduction for cars, trucks, classic cars, street rods and much more (http://www.lobucrod.com/) ) I think it works great and you can't beat it for the price.

Lots of choices out there. Do a search on the other forum and you will find a ton of info. But don't put something on that's 1/2 thick! Not necessary as there are much thinner products that work just fine. Plus you don't want to give away that much of your valuable cockpit real estate. Assuming you use an established known product, it holds up just fine.

I have Lizard Skin and a some Dynamat in my Mk3. I know you said you don't want to spray, but I'm very happy with the Lizard Skin. Planning to use the same product in my Mk4 build just underway.

EZ-Cool x 2. It's inexpensive but very effective, easy to install and very lightweight. Two 10-foot rolls is enough for the cockpit with extra for other places like the backs of the splash panels and doubling the footwells. See the link above.

i have pics in my profile album on FFcars if you want to look, a narative also some pics in my garage.
mine was a combo of products the tranny tunnel was the aluminum faced sheets the footbox a combe of kevlar and sound heat shielding. all of it on the outside, also made footbox bigger on drivers side and installed 1/8" plate over f5r's sheet AL. (drivers-side only) and made my own footbox ventilation. summer was hot in St. Louis and i had no issues with the heat, i probably spent a week on it in hours and about 400 plus in costs for the shielding and 80 bucks for my vent kit i made. lets just say its sound deadened and heat protected very well.
