Just wanted to post a few recent pics of the progress I’ve made in the engine compartment of my MkIV project.

Was trying to figure out the best way to hang the vent hoses from Paul (PaulProe) when I found some large (7") polished stainless steel hose clamps in the ventilation section at Lowes. I cut the screw and ends off the clamps and bent them as needed. They worked out great, look pretty good and cost less than $2 each.

Trying to get that original big block look on my 410W stroker engine so added a pair of FE valve covers and adapters from Mark at Breeze Automotive. The first 60's Ford degas tank I bought on eBay turned out to be a piece of junk but the second one passed the pressure test without any leaks. Many thanks to Chris (Gumball) for his post on how to modify and mount the tank to the engine. The radiator is the aluminum FFR unit with a shroud from FF Metals and the lower radiator hose kit is also from Breeze. The upper hose is a stock unit from NAPA (#8935) that I just had to trim one end.

Again, thanks to everyone for their help.

Ron - Outstanding!!! It's great to see pictures of your build as we share so many similarities in taste and execution. With all the hose connections on the modified degas tank installation, I was pretty nervous when I put coolant in mine, but other than a few hose clamps that needed a little tightening, all has been well. I have around a hour or so of run-time on it already and it seems to be doing fine.

Thanks for the tip on the footvent hose clamps - I'll stop by Lowes and check those out. That will certainly save me from fabbing up my own out of aluminum stock as planned.

Looking forward to your first start and go-kart, too!

Thanks Chris,

Very pleased with how the project is coming along. Currently working on the under car exhaust which will probably be the biggest challenge.

When drilling the stainless steel clamps, I found it easier to take an awl and punch a hole in the metal prior to drilling. The materials is very hard and slick and the drill bit just kept wandering around. That little dent from the awl kept it in place. Originally used the sheet metal screws that FFR used to hold the aluminum panels in place but switched to some stainless steel pan head sheet metal screws.

Ron-

Don't you just love the drill bit "dance of the knuckle dragger's garage?"

I bought a center punch myself after ruining several awls; unfortunately, none of them on a Factory Five--- YET!!

My time will come. Good luck on the rest of your build, it's coming along quite nicely! Congratulations!

Regards,

Steve

Ron,

Are the clamps you used to hold the vent hoses in place the screw-drive type hose band clamps or were they some sort of hangers?

Chris,

The clamps are the regular screw type. They came in a bag of 6 for less than $12. Look in the section where they have all of the vent pipe and fittings.

Thanks again for everyone's feedback.
