So it looks like the cat has been let out of the bag in some of the other threads, so since Richard hasn't posted anything official, I thought I would just mention that the rumors are true! Prototype Development group will be having the GTM race car as the feature booth car for one of our many great sponsors this year. BAJA DESIGNS, which manufactures extreme lighting components in both LED and HID configurations. We have proudly used their lights in the last couple 25 Hours of Thunderhill races and I can safely say that they make one heck of an extreme lighting product. Not only are they intensely bright, but darn near indestructable!
This year Baja Designs has outfitted the GTM with some of their brand new LED products. If you find the car at the SEMA booth, you will see just about every current Baja Designs product that is available on the car. These consist of mostly LED products, but also a couple of extremely bright HID lights. We have used the HID products previously, but the LEDs appear to be an even better pattern with a more white color. They don't go quite as far in distance as the HIDs, which is why we are still incorporating a couple of the HIDs, but they are really a great product that is very much the trend in upcoming modern vehicle lighting.
I have spoken with a couple people at Baja Designs and they feel the GTM could benefit from the use of their Squadron lights(http://www.bajadesigns.com/Products/led-lights-led-light-bar/squadron-led-lights) in place of the standard cornering lights that come on the GTM. These were initially designed for the off road market only, but Baja Designs now has a mounting system that allows stock replacement in the Jeep front bumper locations, and they said they would be interested in possibly coming up with a mounting system for the GTM as well.
As I said, these are some really nice products that we use ourselves on the race car, and should any of you happen to find your way over to the Baja Designs booth at SEMA, you will also get to see a preview of this years Mendeola Transaxles Baja Designs FFR PDG GTM in completely new paint and with some pretty drastic upgrades to try and take on the formidable competition that is expected to show up at this years race.
Time is getting short, and we have a lot of work to do, but we hope to see many of you at this years SEMA show! :)
