This may be completely wrong, but I think he bought a Subaru BRZ or Scion FR-S back in August.
EDIT: I was completely wrong. :(

Correct. Peter posted to the 818 update on that forum yesterday:
...I used to be very into this car and the FFR family Kool-Aid. Hell, I bought a damn WRX as a donor. The WRX is gone and my desire for this product is too.

I'm curious now...
What's the kool-aid we're drinking? Does he think the car's performance was over hyped, or he didn't like the way the design turned out?
edit: Wandered over to the GRM forums for the first time (still can't find the FFR forum there, just random posts referencing it) but it appears he didn't like the artistic outcome.

I found his post on grassroots, and it indicated he was completely turned off by the body design and how FFR seemed to pretty much ignore any feedback on it.

I wish more folks did what he did. Took is somewhere else. We might have more sexy frame detail photos if Dave didn't feel the need to go dark until SEMA.
He's a poser then. You don't buy this type of car for looks, that is just icing (I think it looks great btw). You buy this to destroy pretty much everything on the street and track.

From his post, he made up his mind long before the latest photos. Seems he got turned off and that's that. Said he purchase a donor but has since sold it. He did do the respectable thing and took it off forum.

........You don't buy this type of car for looks, ........
Judging by many, many comments made here over the last 2 years or so - many of them made well before anything was even released by FFR and even before the design contest was in full swing - seem to indicate that statement as false.
While I, personally, agree with you, it's painfully obvious (at least on this forum) the car can't be a "face only a mother would love".
That all being said, I think it looks pretty good so far.
Plus I don't get all the cart before the horse stuff. Who buys a donor before even seeing the final product, then *****es it isn't what he wanted. It has been known for a long time the kits wouldn't be ready for delivery till spring of 2013. I think it looks great so far but 100% of the details are not out yet, so how can anyone make a judgement on the car yet. I am not talking about the gun ho guys who are in 100% no matter what with their donor cars stripped and ready to buy the 818. I am talking about the guys who do this then complain it isn't the kit they expected.

Guys, now that you know his status, I'm going to close this thread. I don't believe in using the forum to talk about other members. He's certainly free to come back if he likes and will be welcome.
So let's move on, OK?
