will the bolt on hood scoop you sell fit over the Mk3.1 hood moulded scoop

curious about possibly leaving my hood scoop in place and installing this over the top, and doing some glass-work around the open nose of the scoop.

The better alternative is to cut out the molded scoop and then fit the new scoop on. That's what I did and it came out great.

You mentioned glass work. We (Jeff Miller) added 2" to the bottom to add a lip as seen in the pics.

just this Saturday MPTech brought over his Mk4 scoop and it fits over the Mk3.1 hood scoop, all i need to do is do a bit of fitting at the nose and seal it up.
i like the thought of leaving mine and the hood will be more rigid once i install one
