Anyone doing winter upgrades? Our race season is over (well 1 more race) and looking at what went wrong this season and trying to do better next season. I had no DNFs due to car (close though) failure.

So my updates will include:

1. new body harness (did new EFI last year)
2. exhaust mods to make it under 95db
3. new XP10 pads all way around
4. New TF rocker arms and studs (5/16 to 3/8)
5. New fuel lines (after fighting the fuel cell issue I can see some potential fuel line issues coming)

I think mine is a standard nut and bolt, and the engine upgrade...any more than that I will be broke.

Exhaust mod is definitely in order for me. Two more races this year, next race no track noise limit
but the November race is at Sonoma. Best solution I've found so far is replacing mufflers
with Cobrapacks, 2 1/2" flow path with packing in 4" case but using a longer muffler length,
at least 6" longer. Then using v clamps at turn down to rotate direction of exhaust. If that doesn't
do it.....forced to put ( ie supertrapp) after the v clamp when needed. Any better solutions and I'm all ears.

I'm putting on the street stuff back in (lights, e-brake, wipers, etc), hopefully reducing my 60lb ballast I have bolted to the pass floor :) Other then that possibly fixing my side-pipe baffle/rattle and putting in a new clutch.

Where do you wind up cutting the exhaust to put in the Cobrapacks? Can this be done if I make the one cut to put the v-clamps on for the turn down tips?

Tony- If you go up on the web site www,classicchambered.com there is a section "Cobra muffler retrofit"
They explain the whole process for changing to the Cobrapacks. Rather than welding on the turn down
I was just going to use a v-clamp. I'm going to put the longest mufflers I can by removing as much of the 3 1/2"
pipe as possible.

So basically a almost a whole exhaust replacement, I can keep J-Pipe and part of the collector and replace from there back. I see lots of $$$ here, but if it works then I don't have to worry about wasting money and points at the track for being meat balled

Also worried about their statement on Cobrapacks "COBRAPACKS are typically louder than stock mufflers, they may exceed legal noise levels where enforced. * 2-1/2" Versions are quieter than 3". Dyno results on 3" versions have shown gains of 100+ HP vs. stock mufflers at certain RPM ranges."

Also concerned about the claim of 100+ HP (I assume that should be 10)?

Well Tony....we'll find out soon if it works. November"s race is at Infineon. I'll have a report at that time.
I'm not looking to gain HP from the change just preserve what I have. The HP statement they were making was about the "non packed units"
The packed mufflers are quieter and hopefully by
using longer mufflers it'll quiet it down enough. Our stock ones being 18" and changing to 24" or 26".

Robert, please report back on how it goes and exactly what setup you went with (length) and turn downs

I asked Santa for a Trick Flow top-end kit and a ring & pinion.

I asked Santa for the same TF package. He's going to have a heavy bag this year.
