My car will be delivered in a few weeks. I have 2 392 1958 chrysler hemis. I know they fit, and wonder about adapting to the engine mounts, transmission and header issues. I'd like an under car exhaust. Anyone with any ideas? experience with this one?
Thanks

Neil-
I think it's going to be tight trying to get both of those 392's into that engine bay! ;-o)
Sorry, I know I added nothing to the discussion, but I just had to do it!
Best of luck with your build; much success!
Regards,
Steve

There are some old posts from a few guys that tried it but it is unclear whether they got it done, or what? Tried to contact with no success, maybe they gave up building cars for golf!

I put a Gen 3 HEMI in mine. I'm not too familiar with the older motors, but I can tell you what we needed. I hope it helps.
We used tight-tuck (block hugger) headers from Street and Performance. We had the exhaust fabricated from scratch. The chassis was notched and gusseted for 3 the 3 inch exhaust and its full length including over the rear axle.
For the transmission (we're using a 518), we had an adapter plate machined that bolts to the tailshaft and then to the included Energy Suspension isolator. We also used a spacer for better driveline angle.
We fabricated the motor mounts ourselves off of the 4.6L mounts included in the kit. We welded a barrel mount spaced off the chassis plate and then we welded up a plate with chassis tabs that bolts on the motor.
I don't know if there is enough detail in my build thread, but here it is. http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?3524-GenIII-HEMI-build-thread-wife-calls-it-Mistress
