That car didn't just get hit with the ugly stick, it seems to have lived in sin with the ugly stick... for 30-odd years.

Love that 90% of both the videos are pans of the car pulling into/out of a driveway.

On a serious note, this car is everything that one should fear in a kit car - lighting that is compromised by location and use of generic parts, glass that is out of proportion with the other design elements (and fitted with terrible gaskets), and mish-mash styling that comes from lack of focus (and refinement) by the designer.

I have to go look at some pretty things just to get the sight of that thing out of my mind. Eye bleach please!

That thing must have been HOT in '77 DAYUM. I bet 99/100 people would think it was a ferrari back then.
In fact, it's seriously in danger of being hot now. lol.

eww, thats nasty.

The headlights look like an afterthought.

The rear spoiler is tacky and hideous.

The side glass is HUGE and the dual sunroof glass looks 'off'

Cut the top off it, power it by a GSXR1100 engine and it would be a kick in the butt go kart.

For about 10 minutes before I intentionally crashed it to put the motor in something else.

If it was a foot longer in the front end, it would really improve the looks.

And I received the entire action set for Christmas as a kid one year because my parents couldn't afford the Star Wars stuff. :)

Wow, reading the thread title though someone had latched onto some of my pics (definitely not the car in the beginning of the thread!). New around here, but when I first heard about the new FFR car and general plan for it - I had to sign up and see what the scoop was. Very excited about the new car, even though I've been working on something similar for several years now. Same general idea - lightweight roadster, fiberglass body, Subaru mid-mounted engine, good suspension. Sounds like the FFR car is at least a year out before the new model begins rolling off the assembly line..... might give me enough time to finish mine up before starting something new!
Couple of older pics to give some ideas of the direction I chose.

That's not the Subaru transmission, is it? The motor looks like an early EJ20G. Those are nice motors...simple, reliable.

Nice work so far. Looking forward to seeing your results.

Thanks PhyrraM. No, not a Suby trans. I started the project before the now available bits were widely known to 1) make it AWD -> FWD and 2) adapter output flanges to use standard VW/Porsche CV joints. My choice was the Porsche 914 trans (fully rebuilt). If I were to start over I'd definitely use the modified WRX trans! At this point I'd have to make too many major changes to incoporate it - and changes like that really drag a project out! This one has already taken long enough.
