Hi,
Not a complaint that it wasn't offered - just wondering if it's:
1) not possible
2) just not as purist/performance oriented, so possible just not chosen on the open-top gen1 car
I ask because I daily drive a 2005 outback XT (2.5T engine) with the tip-tronic auto. It has both the tiptronic style shifter (move to the left, then forward for - and back for +) and more fun, this car included +/- on the momo steering wheel from the factory:

(not my pic and definitely not my floor mats :) )
not as handy as paddle shifters off an Evo, but plenty of fun. So just curious if the auto can't be converted for Front Wheel Drive (aka: rear wheel drive with this config) or if something else would keep it from being an option.
