i am thinking of building a 65 coupe for my next challenge.
i have never built a FFR kit before. i have restored several old mopars and have helped install mod motors in 5 different fox body mustangs.
i can get a 5.4 mod motor from a 07 Shelbyby gt500 at a great price.
will this motor work in a coupe? the website says it will work in other bodies but they say the coupes use a 302 or a 351.

HAS ANYBODY DONE THIS BEFORE?

is the engine compartment wide enough for a mod motor?
it is on other FFR cars.
why don't they list a mod motor as acceptable motor on the website?

is it because valve cover clearance on the brake booster? i used a hydro boost booster from a sn95 mustang on mod motors in fox bodies before.
or is the foot box bigger on the coupe than other bodies causing clearance problems?

I really believe almost every engine has found its way into the coupe, from various 6 cylinders to Viper V-10's and everything in between. What it come down to, is how much your willing to modify and spend and if that total is worth it to have your favorite mill under the hood of this beautiful beast

I have been using an 02 GT as a donor and sliding the 4.6 in has been relatively easy; the 5.4 is a bit wider though and may crowd the footboxes more. I bough the roadster 4.6 install kit with the updated drivers side footbox metal and a few other bits. I am using the stock manifolds with roadster J-pipes if you want to use the coupe dual sidepipes you will need to adapt them to the single input. Others have used the single roadster sidepipes. I had to modify the passengerside footbox aluminum slightly but nothing extensive. My blog has some pics http://homeschoolcoupe.blogspot.com/

Hieght I believe has been the issue with the Mod motors hitting the bonnett

I did an ls1 in mine and it fits great. As you move the engine forward the footbox becomes less of a problem. A dry sump or shallow pan may help with the height issue. The hydroboost has better clearance than most manual MC.
