For those of you that have issues with the Kirkey Intermediate Road Race Seats getting in and out of a GTM you may want to consider this mod as an option.
I noticed that the thigh supports were the only issue with getting in and out of the car as they stick up well above the door sill and leave very little room between the steering wheel and that raised profile on the seat. There is a crease/bend line along that thigh support that almost perfectly matches the profile of the door sill which is what I used as my cut line.
Very carefully I cut away the factory weld that secures the edge beading and bent the beading out of the way just enough to make the cut.
The cut and beading ware cleaned up and the lower corner radius’d before gently persuading the beading back along its new profile and welding into place.
I am still working on a practical slider/mounting configuration for this seat so if anyone has resolved this I would love to see how you did it.

Cheers

Dave

Good idea Dave. Do you have a picture of the seat in the car? I personally like the fact that a aluminum seat can simply be modified for fitment into the GTM. Im interested in how much rake back you can get with this setup
Thanks

I don't have an exact angle but should be able to work that out tomorrow.

Thanks Dave. Those pictures help a lot. It looks like you have the seat nearly as laid back as I have my stock seat that I have been using for mock up proposes.

I like the Kirkey seat because it can be modified. The tillet seats are beautiful and I am sure they fit fine for street duty but the seat belt routing is critical. I am trying to match the schroth harness install requirements exactly. They are very particular about seat contact with the belts and angles beteen the attachment to the car and the driver . Cutting up a tillet seat would be a crime. Cutting and rewelding a Kirkey would be fun.
