Thanks to DAVE for the 50-50 sale, and to Jason and Rick, I ordered my 65 Coupe (complete kit) today! I am now looking for a crate 302 V8, with electronic fuel injection and a Super T5 transmission to complete the list of ingredients.

I have to say that getting the manual a few weeks ago was a good investment - it answered a lot of my configuration questions. I highly recommend looking at the manual during the planning stages. I should have done that a lot earlier.

Delivery is scheduled for late September. I am planning to hold a “Delivery Party” with the local F5R builders and some other friends in the area. Probably a great opportunity for a Networking / End of Summer / Coupe Delivery BBQ!

I will be documenting the build with still images and video – so stay tuned!

South Orange County (CA) builders - BBQ soon to meet Stewart Transport!

Good luck with your build. The FFR coupe is one of the most beautiful cars in my opinion. Its the car I regret selling the most.

Wayne, congrats! like you I also took advantage of the 50/50 sell for the roadster and like you I also ordered the manual a head of time, must have already read it all the way through 6 times. I've booked a Roadster build class for November. I pushed my delivery out to the end of December. To give me time to prepare.

Good luck with the build. Wish I was a little closer and I would come up for your BBQ. I'm in the San Diego area.

Wayne,

Raise your right hand and say after me,

"I, "Wayne of Laguna Niguel", do swear/affirm, that upon acceptance of this "Revered Coupe Jacket", will willingly subject myself to all manner of frustration and abrasion that my FFR Type 65 will provide. I further pledge that any and all fellow Coupe builders will have free reign in using the cash available in my wallet as they see fit to improve my build plan. I will not look down upon our fellow Roadster builders, but rather take pity on those not talented enough to build a race car with a roof, So Help Me God!"

It is my pleasure to present you with the "Revered Coupe Jacket", Here's your sign!!

Yes! I really like the white version.... I saw your car at the HB Pier earlier this year. Had to take a detailed look at what you did. And I noticed that coax cable line for the 2-way radio. That's another story...... Delivery of my kit should be early October - which is OK, since I need to clear out my garage!

I was wondering when this happens! I have been lurking for more than a year.... but you know how life is - have money but no time, then have time but no money, then un-employment happens, then you get a new job..... I can't wait to get started!

Oh. Before I forget. Right hand raised.

Which build class is that? Is there one out here or are you going to the one advertised in the FFR brochure?

Thanks.... I am estimating a 2 or 3 year build. I wasn't sure if I could do this, but a co-worker said he built his Roadster in about 2 yrs.... and it is beautiful..

Thanks Willy. Actually, it got really bad for me several months ago. I first started thinking about the Roadster. Then it was the Coupe. Then it was the Roadster again. Then I saw a GTM one day. Then I went to the famous Huntington Beach Pier gathering, and I saw the 33. The of course the 818 is all over the company website. Arg. . . .The sale pushed me over, and I decided to fit the coupe with IRS..... now I am thinking about key-less entry.........

Tell me about the Bel Air mentioned in your signature. I have one in my family - it belonged to one of my uncles, who passed away. It was his everyday driver. The thing had the original seats, and he had lots of spare body parts, still in original boxes. He was a mechanic. Here are some pictures of it getting towed to my brother-in-law's place.

I have seen some of your posts, and I like your color scheme. My car won't have a number. I am trying to decide how to configure the stripes. I came across a Peter Brock paper called "Getting it Right" or something like that - it mentions "proper" colors and other stuff, but there isn't a guideline on the width of the stripes. I will do a forum search on that later this week.

Thanks Michael for selling me your in process coupe. It took me 2 1/2 years to finish it but I really enjoyed the 30,000 miles that I have driven so far, with many more to come.

Think you will be more happy with the coupe one of the resons I got a coupe was, if I was going to build something I wanted it to be unique, went to a larger show last week and saw about half a dozen raodsters but mine was the only coupe.

Wayne

Welcome to the craziness. I'm on the east coast way up in Maine along with John Dol and am at the 85% to 90% completion stage. Actually just in the process of stripping installed parts to take the body off for final body work and paint. As to stripes, I will do 7'' wide with a separation of 2". Seems to be the most popular. Some add a pinstripe at the 7" edge.

Thanks Bill. I will have to mock that up to visualize that. On my avatar, I think the stripes need to be wider. On the color, however - yesterday I saw a nice Mustang KR500 driving by - it was navy blue with yellow stripes - very striking and my college colors (UCLA). So now I will have to consider that color combination..... I have a long way to go for that bridge, though.

Congrats on the order Rodster. The car in your avatar is what inspired my color choices although I went with a wide single stripe and the 50/50 rear split.

I am also considering a coupe. Can you tell me what the 50/50 sale was and does FFR do them on a regular basis? Thanks.

Rodster
09-18-2012, 03:13 PM
VFC -
Sure. the 50/50 was a celebration / anniversary of the car and meant 50 percent off all accessory items. This pushed me from the "thinking about" to "get the order in already!" This also meant - for me - to go with the IRS upgrade from the 3-link suspension..... and yes - sales do happen once in a while, if you follow the forums and watch the Factory website for announcements. For example, last winter (I think) there was a sale, but I do not recall what it was - didn't matter, I didn't have my car configured and budgeted.

So - I would suggest that you do all of your homework, order the manual for the car - which answered a lot of my questions - and hold until a sale happens.

Of course, if you have the funds, no reason to get started right away. . .

Good luck and let us know what you decide to get and configure!

I started a Wordpress site for the build, and other stuff:
