is it norrmal to have about a 1" play in the steering wheel? looked at all the steering and found it to have play in area were the two shafts meet below the steering wheel ( the slide in connection at the wheel ) has anybody had that problem and what did you do to fix it?11449

Willy, there is a rounded spring clip, maybe 2" long and 1/16" wide (running from memory on those dimensions, they're a rough estimate) that goes between those two shafts that essentially locks them together. Is that installed?

Never seen one, read up on the other forum about the washer in there and have those, they also had a good idea using a feeler guage and using blades off it to take up the play and still be colapsiable. kinda like that idea. others just drilled and put in a bolt but then it is non moveable.

If you go the bolt route, use a small aluminum bolt. Like a shear pin it will give if there s an impact.

Mine were so tight I had to beat on it with a hammer to set the length.
