Just FYI - and I hope I get this right.

The T56 is the name given to the old model of it. You can't buy them new any more.

The 6060 is the name given to the OE transmission, and it enabled the funding for the T56 magnum to take place. The T56 magnum is the same as the old T56 except it has a lot of the the upgraded internals from the 6060, and is rated up to about 750tq/hp.

The T56 magnum is the same size as the TKO600, albeit about 2 inches longer. The physical size of it is the same and does fit into IRS Factory Five Roadsters without binding issues.

Mike Forte knows his stuff. He will see you right. If I've got anything wrong above, I hope he will chime in and correct me. I was given so much mis-information from all over the place I just got more and more confused. People talk about the T56, T56 Magnum and 6060 as if they are the same thing but they aren't.

Hi Guys,
The T-56 was a Borg Warner transmission that Tremec purchased from Borg Warner. Tremec then took over as the OEM supplier of the T-56. With the Horse power wars going on the OEM's needed a more stout transmission. With that requirement Tremec took the T-56 and re-engineered everything inside the same T-56 main case dimensions. With this Tremec increase the bearing sizes, shaft & gear sizes while miniaturizing the synchronizers to fit the much larger gears. This OEM 6 speed is a 6060. It is where the T-56 Magnum comes from. All in the same case size as the original Borg Warner T-56.
