You may remember when we posted that our good friends at Whitby Motorcars built an all-electric Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod (http://www.factoryfive.com/whats-new/whitby-goes-all-electric/) a year ago. Today, Whitby owner Jeff Collins e-mailed us some photos of the car taking part in an autocross at FedEx Field in Landover, MD!

Ken Clayton drove the Hot Rod during the Power of DC Autocross event held last weekend where they ran a time of 82.8 seconds in the pouring rain! Ken said that the car handled really well and also said, “they had several FFR Roadsters there and on a dry pavement they were running in the low 70′s.”

Thanks to Ken, Mike, and the crew at Whitby for sharing this fun story!

Way to go Jeff and team!!

Looks like you all had a blast. But even better, demonstrated the awesome capabilities of the car, and the viability of the electric version. Good for you all! I have to confess that I am not at all "shocked" that you did well!! And I got a real "charge" out of your story! Hopefully there will be little "resistance" to folks accepting this idea!

OK, I am done with the puns; it had to be done! Sorry y'all!!

Regards,

Steve

Thanks for the photos. Somehow still photography and no sound seems appropriate for an Electric Hot Rod! There wouldn't be much sound anyway!! :)

(except for some cheering, of course!)

Slip-slidin' away in the '33 can be a lot of fun in the wet.
