Subaru fans, please do not bring tar and feathers. This is a honest question.

Is the Saab 9-2x a potential single car 818 donor?
I have heard some refer to it as a Saabaru, because of what it shares in common with the WRX. The question is, does it share enough to be useful as a donor or even provide all of the parts needed?

Many that I have seen are carrying less mileage are newer and costing less than the WRXs.

They're essentially wrx wagons. Iirc, the main differences (only?) were the wheel styling, headlights, front bumper and fenders, rear bumper and hatch, seats (not 1 piece backs), and a few Saab emblems here and there.

Add to that some re-engineered suspension bushings, "for a more sophicated ride experience".

Agreed same as a Impreza wagon ('02-'07). The "Aero" was the WRX clone (2.0 for '04-'05, 2.5 for '06), while the "Linear" was a normally aspirated 2.5.

Thanks for the quick replies!

The wiki article mentioned that it shared a steering rack with the STI. Will that be compatible?

I don't see why not. Given the stated donor range, FFR seems almost required to support both types of mounting.

I was looking for a 92x a while ago along with searching for Subarus. It's the exact same car as the WRX wagon, just rebadged with a tweeked facia. The Saabs are generally more expensive than the Subaru equivalent and they, unlike the Subaru are almost all equipped with automatics.

The steering rack is an STI but in 06 the WRX also got the same steering rack I believe. The 92X came out in 05 so if you go with an "aero" you get the 2.0L engine for 05's and 2.5L in 06, just like the WRX.

I agree with all of the above!

Saab people hate finding out that they bought a Subaru ;)

they should have known something was up right away when the ignition key wasn't in the center console.

How do they feel when they find out that they bought a Chevy?
