Starting to collect parts for a heater mod I have planed, I'm looking for photos and vendors of defroster vents with bent or directional fins on them.

This is the FFR vintage air defroster. It's a nice chrome looking piece with just 2 long slots that does a really good job of defusing some very hot air across the windshield.

These are not adjustable but the heater vents in the cockpit are.

Not trying to rain on your party, but unless you're going to have a top on your car, you probably don't need a defroster. I spent a lot of time and money modifying my heater and plumbing to accommodate a defroster and my windshield has never fogged up.

That probably depends on where you live. I live near water and sometimes need the defroster on cool mornings when the windshield is still cool/cold (colder than the dewpoint). I don't have a top on my roadster and I have needed my defroster on occasion.

P.S. I have the FFR/Vintage Air defroster vents and they work (and look) great.

I am not planning on using them for the defroster, I actually didn't think you'd need one untill I read Cobradavid's reply.
The way they look is unimportant because you will not be able to see them unless you poke your head into the foot box. I'm really looking for one with fixed in place louvers so it will push the air into the forward side of the footboxs.
sharkx has the style that I'm looking for but instead of th holes milled out I'm looking for it to be a stamped part with the air being directed. (I'm not sure what the exact term is for what I'm looking for)
Chepsk8 - where are your airducts?

I sure wish my mkII had a defroster. I've been driving my roadster a lot in December and January. When I leave work at 10pm my windshield is ALWAYS fogged up on both sides. It takes me 10 minutes of wiping it down so I can see through it. That usually only lasts 5 minutes on the road until I have to pull over and wipe it off again.

I needed to have "de-fog" in PA for inspection. So, I bought the small heater unit from Southern Rods, and the ball vents pictured. I built a plenum under the dash that seals up to the bottom of the body, and is fed by the heater assy. The two ball vents are the exits. It all fits hehind the dash, so it's unseen from either side.
The pics here are in early fabrication and mock-up, hence the yellow cardboard, and not the final system. I have since also added two hoses from the plenum downward into each footbox, and to force air out them, I simply rotate the ball vents to the closed position.

I used the aluminum 3" for my footbox blower cooling vents, and they work really well. Pianted black they blend in with the carpet, and are not noticeable at all.
There are several designs to choose from, if you scroll down, and they come in a variety of sizes.
Al, take a look a these pictures.

Just to elaborate, in addition to the defroster vents, I mounted 2 ball style directional vents in Mike Everson's underdash panel. This allows me to direct hot air downward. Between the seat heaters and the heat directed towards the footboxes, I can stay comfortable with the temps down in the 40's before I have to put the top on.

AC Bill - thanks that’s what I'm looking for, just have to find the shape I want. I spent a couple of hours yesterday trying to find them on JCWhitney, Jegs, and Summit.
Chepsk8 - thanks for the clarification, as soon as I read your response I saw the plenum, dyslexic moment.

Al, try looking for those at a building supply center, Home Depot, etc., you won't find them at a auto parts place..

I got mine from Whitby's. They recommended installing them in the driver line of vision, NOT symetrical to any stripe etc. I created a defrost pan/plenum chamber which is pressurized with hot air when I pull on a cable control which is connected to a knife vent valve from a shop vac dust collection kit. I also used shop vac hoses for my heater eyeballs which I purchased from vintage air. the shop vac hose fits the vintage air vents and holds in place with a couple rivets.
