These two pieces of aluminum were in loose in the trunk. I assume it wasn't a mistake.
Can anyone tell me what they are?
Thanks

Depending on how big they are, they could be side filler pieces that go in the trunk of a type 65 coupe.

They are fillers for the cutouts for the cutouts on the 65 coupe for the shock mounts if the car has IRS they are used.

These were in the trunk of my roadster, not 65 Coupe

They look big enough that one could cover up your e-brake hole on the tunnel if you decide to relocate it. Probably worth holding on to.

On my MKIV they are to cover up some rectangular holes in the sides of the trunk directly above the upper shock mount on the IRS. When I received my kit, they were duct taped to the outside of the trunk side panels covering the holes.

how were they shipped? I had two panels similar to that duct taped to the floor on the PS cockpit. They said something like IRS blockoff plates. I'll have to go look tomorrow. The plates that block the holes in the sides of the trunk were already in place for mine when it arrived, and from your picture those look a lot larger. I know you have IRS too so that might be the same as mine.

Why didn't I think of looking at the packing list before asking this question? The last two items listed are LH & RH Shock Tower Block Off Plates for IRS only.
Thanks

Never throw anything away in these kits, until you have completely finished your build. Have a close look at anything that makes you wonder and, I can tell you from experience, the reason(s) you have those pieces will become very clear as the building process unfolds.

Hmm, interesting. We're building a Mk IV with IRS, and I don't recall seeing pieces like that anywhere. I'll have to check with Ryanh, maybe he knows where they are.
I don't recall having those with my mkiv IRS. Maybe it was for a different trunk design. I agree, don't throw anything away.
