Event #8 on Sunday was a tough one. I had 1 dry run which was my best and then the rain came. 3 wet runs one semi dry and 1 more dry run. By run 6 it was down to the wire with Bill running well and me hitting cones on my fast runs. On run 6 bill put up a really good time which really put the pressure on me as he now had the winning time. I went out and ran as fast and wide as I could and just passed Bill by .07 seconds. Way too close for comfort!

Here is a video of run 5 semi-wet. It is amazing how much grip there is on slicks on a damp surface. On this run I hit the rev limiter so top speed was right at 70 mph. Also on this run I had the honor of Bob Hassett (bob-stl) riding shotgun. Thanks for coming out Bob. He left with a big smile on his face.

Skip to the 1:00 mark as my video editor is having problems. Sound is poor because I had the waterproof cover on for the rain.

Nice driving. Wish the sound was better so we could hear that sweet sounding engine. Maybe another time. Thanks, WEK.

Nice run, and kudos on the performance in the rain/wet.....Slicks do have a world more grip that most people would think...:)

Thanks!

I switched to street tires for a rain event last year and lost. The slicks were far better in the rain. I was very suprised at the level of grip. Only issue was the torque of the LS1 would break traction very easily so modulation was the key.

Also picked up a tip I would like to share. Last year at the rain event I had a hard time staying defogged. My co-driver suggested also putting rain-x on the inside which I had never heard of. I tried it and did not have one speck of fog all day in the rain. No wipers or A/C and I had crystal clear vision the whole heat.
