I decided to roll out the go kart yesterday and see if it would fire. The first try yielded a loose starter wire and a fuel leak that were both quickly fixed. When I turned it over the second time I got an immediate roar (no pipes yet). It was loud!!! I ran it up to temp and everything worked perfectly. Frankly I was pleasantly shocked. I assumed I would have to go back in to fix something.

To Skulland Bones earlier post - I will probably take it out for a spin around the block.

Had a neighbor take a video with my phone but I haven't figured out how to get it off yet.

Congrats Brother.....would love to see that video. I feel the same way, if it starts the first time I'm going to be blown away!!!

I fully anticipate having to fully rebuild my engine between go cart and completion (built it myself!).

You shouldn't be surprised. You are a car builder. It should be expected. Congratulations! The first start is a real rush even if you are putting in a new engine in an old car.
