I have been waiting for a month for approval to import my mk4 kit. Just wondering if anyone could comment on general wait times and if there is typically a longer wait in the summer months. As the saying goes, the waiting is the hardest part.....at least so far :)

Took me 8 days, but summer Time does take longer
My understanding is that there are only 2or 3 guys able to sign the document.

Hi Jonathan
I purchased my kit at the end of Jan and had the approval letter by 17 Feb. Part of that time was a result of my own computer incompitance. Didn't get all the attachments on the first email. After that it was easy. Import and customs were a breeze.

Good Luck
Norm

I was lucky -- i was in no rush, so i submitted my fax and the cover form on a tuesday afternoon here in Nerw Brunswick at 4 pm on June 26th, I recived a voicemail at home at 6pm that the 12th sheet was missing, i refaxxed the following morning at around 10am, and the fax from Trans Canada arrived on June 29th. I wrote a letter thanking them for their diligence.

Hi Jonathan
Did you email or fax the required documents? I initially tried email but, it didn't get to the right people. Faxed the stuff and got almost an immediate answer. Maybe the two guys who can approve import are on holidays.

Good Luck
Norm

UPDATE
I had emailed my ppw and in the subject line I had attention to the names ffr provided (Patrick and Alexandru). Late Thursday night I sent a followup email and on Friday I received a call from Robert at Transport Canada. Robert said Alexandru had moved on and Patrick was on vacation. He asked me to resend the email to his attention and said he would followup with Patrick next week and he gave me a number to call if I don't hear back by mid week. Feeling much better now, thanks for your input guys.

The wait continues....
As instructed I called Robert on Wednesday and almost immediately he told me it was approved and an email was sent to me. I hadn't received an email so I said I would check my spam folder and Robert asked me to hold so he could double check. To my surprise Robert came back and asked me to resend the ppw again and he would push to Patrick. I thanked Robert and resent the ppw. On Thursday I received a call from Patrick and I was thinking this must be progress but to my surprise Patrick was calling to request that I resend the ppw to his email address. I have sent my ppw 4 times now and I feel like I'm harassing them but I'm just following their instructions. Hopefully it will be approved next week.

No I didn't order yet, the build is not going to really start until its too cold to do landscaping with the new house. Is the shipping to Canada reasonable with whitby

Good question -- i am having it shipped to the border- then i will swing across and pick it up, and bring it thru -- saves on brokerage fees.

Alexandru at TC no longer looks after the import approvals. It's Patrick. I had an issue trying to email info to him initially. It seams the file was too big. Once that was resolved I got my approval letter in about a week.
Heading out during first week of September to pick up the "starter kit" looking at a 9500 kilometer round trip. Can't wait.

You Canadian guys are an inspiration! Really nice to see how far away there are people like you who put up w/ all the extra stuff just to have an FFR. If any of you ever want to visit the Wash DC area of the USA, you would be welcome to stop by my house or even stay here.
