Just placed my order late last week. I have done a ton of research a couple of years ago on the MKIII but did not buy then.

Now we are into the MK4 - What are the major differances?

Now that it has been in production for a few years, what problems do I need to plan for?

What are the must have MODs?
Foot boxes
Parking brake
Fuel tank access

15 or 17" wheels

Anything will help

Hi Bill
I've only had my MKIV since May so I'm no expert. The best advice I've read on the forum is to decide how you will be using the car and have a build plan to match that. I wanted a daily driver that would be comfortable enough for the odd longer trip and that I wouldn't be ashamed to enter in the local car show. To register where I live I needed a heater and windshield wipers. The mods I have chosen to add are foot well vents, firewall forward, battery forward and enlarged trunk. The foot well vents should help keep my wife's nagometer out of the red on longer trips. Firewall forward allows me to have a glove box with the heater. The new trunk is tiny so anything I could do to increase the space was the reason for the last two mods.
I went with 17"wheels after a lot of searching for 15"tires that would work for longer trips. Maybe someone else here has had better luck finding tires.

Congrats and good luck!

Norm

The parking brake is the good one, the other mods I am not doing.

I like the look of the 15"
