14k - my body was pretty bad. I didn't do anything (didn't even set the doors, heh) related to the body. Also a few pennies in there for grafting on the supersnake hood.

Voted as well, I didn't do stripes but more then made up for the cost of stripes with the body work to flare the rear fenders.

How much more do stripes add to the paint costs?

I did all the seam repairs, fitting of doors, hood, trunk, rolled the edges, and got the filler work close. Paid the painter $4400 to finish (with stripes). With materials and tools that I used, I probably had about another 1k in it.

Woo hoo, my first post here!

From the pricing I have seen listed, anywhere from around $700 - $1200 depending on if its a single, double, or double with pinstripe.

Poll seems pretty accurate this is what we charge...

For the new Mk4's we charge $6,750 this includes;
*All the Body work and fit-ment of panels
*Any color other then Tri-coats and candies
*Stripes are included with pin-stripes(unless you don't want them)
*Also included is the painting of the underside of the hood and trunk

My son did the bodywork in its entirety, so I cannot speak to the labor cost. I did use Glasurit paint materials, and my car is red: the most costly pigment color. My materials costs for bodywork products and paint fell in the range of $2,600.00 to $3,000.00, and that's figuring the Glasurit component at wholesale cost.

Hi,

Under $1000 actually 829.00. Artic white #10, one color on my spec racer. Is it a good job........it is a 50:50 paint job. Means that @ 50 MPH and Fifty feet it looks good! It is easy to repair too.

$6,500 from beginning to the end with stripes and wet-sanding and buffing included. $2,200 in itemized materials down to $1 items. $4.300 for 175 hours of labor, which at $25 per hour I think is pretty good from an experienced hotrod body-man. http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p121/dakobra/IMG_1144.jpg

You should have 4 different polls... MK1 - MK2 - MK3 - MK4

Each body series has gotten progressively better from FFR.. The MK4's that I've looked at so far are easily 40 hours less work than the MK2's & 3's that I've seen...

I did an MK3 for the cost of paint and materials. Around $1200 for PPG Vibrance Red candy. It was alot of work but I'm not new to automotive body and paint so it was managable. The painting was one of the more challenging aspects escpecially since I did a candy. There is not a flat or parallel panel on the car which makes getting the tint even extremely difficult, especially with the doors and hood, trunk removed.

My advice would be to stick with a non candy color and it will be alot easier and cheaper.

$5K. My painter did everything. I dropped the car off, he removed everything(my car was already street legal), he did all the bodywork, paint, then put it all back together and dropped it off at my house. It's not the best paint job out there, but it's good enough, because after 6 years on the road, it has dings all over it.
