I'm in the process of fitting the clear headlight covers and I was wondering if there should be a small gap all the way around the cover or should they fit tight. If they are tight will they rub the paint off?
Thanks,
Bob

I got some small rubber channel trim from McMaster Carr to go around the plastic and fit them A little snug.

Ideally they would be nice and snug to keep dirt/water out...... without the trim as Chaz suggested it will scrape the paint off. I used 1/8" vacuum line and split it.

Like xir8or I left a little gap so viberation does not damage the paint, even if you try to make them water tight (I think inposible) you will have some movement there so just leave a little gap so you can take them off with no problem.

You will need to fit them and sand areas to make them uniform. Make what is aestetically pleasing.

While I would like for them to fit tight, I figured there would be vibration and it would rub the paint. I have worked my covers down quite a bit, I just wanted to get other points of view.
Thank you to all who responded.
