Beleive it or not, I had an all aluminum flywheel at one time. It came that way with the car. I can tell you that I had that thing out of the car and resurfacing it more than one time. That doesn't work. Now, fast forward to the 21st century and I have another one but this time Ram with a steel insert. I haven't road tested it but I have heard good things about it. I think it is not the lightest but still lighter than a solid steel one. Some people don't like them saying it will cause you to lose launch capability (torque). I think there is a mixed arguement having to do with lowering rotating mass which is good. I like the sound when it revs (sue me). You can tell the difference. IMO, it's worth the compromise. I'm sure there are some very interesting discusion points on this one! Enter the engineers and theorists. WEK.

First you need to know is the motor an internal balance or external. As for material a all steel is heavier and will gain and loose RPM slower than a Aluminum one. If you choose a aluminum one make sure it has a steel insert like Ram or one of the other major manufactures.I choose a ram one for the lighter weight .I've always have had good luck with there products. If you want give me a call and I can give you specs on mine.I'm out of hospital and am home again after bypass surgery. I had another heart attack will in docs office disgussing how to clear the last blockage he could not get to by angi. Wife just cleared me to be in garage again.
