I finally got my first taste of what this thing will be like. I like it. My wife was recording the video and told me when I came back from the first run that she had stopped the video and could not get it restarted for my return, and I would have to go back out and do it again. I told her "NO PROBLEM!!"

Looking really good! ice to have a built in skidpad at the end of the street! ;)

What are your plans for the sidepipes? I'd deal with those sooner rather than later while they are bare metal and still in good shape.

:)

Pretty cool! So what made you decide to go with EFI and what manifold is that? Also, what wheels do you have? Thanks, WEK.

The skidpad is nice but there was a lot of loose sand and rock getting tossed back by the new tires.

My plan for the sidepipes is to pull them off soon. Scuff them with a scotchbrite pad and spray them with high temp primer and high temp black paint. I'll also put on some silver ceramic coated heat shields to reduce burns.

The wheels are chrome FR500 style wheels from American Muscle. They are 17 x 9 and 17 x10.5 with 255 and 315 Nitto NT555 tires.

I know carbs look better, but I plan to do driving over some distance and wanted a little better fuel economy when cruising. My donor was a wrecked 94 mustang cobra with a rebuilt 306. so that is a stock 94-95 cobra intake manifold with 24 lb injectors. BBK MAF, and Summit throttle body because the originals were damaged. I stripped down the engine to check it out and found the short block to be in good shape but the GT40 heads had been swapped out for stock gt heads. So I installed Trick Flow 170 heads and a cam and rockers from Mike Forte.

Congrats!!! This is the point where it really starts to feel like a car instead of a pile of parts :)

Congrats, I cant imagine how it must feel. I will have the wife video my first roll out of the garage, but I will have to have her stop once I start to cry with joy.

When you've wrestled with tempermental carbs as much as I have, it's a welcome change. I'm actually getting to where I like to see those setups in the roadsters. I have one, too. This is my first but I'm hoping it will rival my Rav 4 (4 cyl) for gas mileage. I think it may be closer than a lot of people think. The only difference is that it will be harder to keep out of the throttle on the roadster!! Good luck on your continued build. Looks great. One suggestion: smile more. I know you're having fun. WEK.

WEK,

You couldn't see it because the camera was on the back of my head, but in the second video when with very little effort I chirped the tires going into second, there was a smile.:D

I was wondering about that chirp. What tires are you running? I have the ford racing 427w and although i have not hit it hard yet, i have zero break loose during shifting. Check this video, when i get towards home i hit it a little harder and nothing. Everyone was telling me this engine was going to be way too much power and that first gear was going to be useless with the 3:55 gears, but so far it seems tame... I am also running the ecsta XS tires. I wonder if this has anything to do with it. Thats why i wonder what tires you have...

I'm running Nitto NT555 tires that is their 300 treadwear rated tire. They were also overinflated when they were mounted and I have not let the extra pressure off yet. There is probably 40 psi in them. Should be 22-28 psi. I have 3.55 gears, true-track diff, Thunderbird IRS, 94 cobra T-5 wc.

Hmmm, OK. thanks for the info. I am running about 22psi all around. Again, I have not really hammered it yet. Plus i have a very long throw on my gas pedal. I made a mechanical linkage and used that to give me a long sweep.
