Have noticed a few people on the boards waiting on buying a roadster. Just wondering what is going to make you pull the trigger... Also, what are your plans as far as setup.

Luckywinner, I think we are at about the same point. Each thread you write is something I am also interested in.. Newbie, beginner, questions... haha

I guess I can add what I am thinking:

Roadster
Basic Kit (I think)
Breeze EZ-Pak Carborated (I think)
IRS
Power Steering / Power brakes? (trying to decide)
- Think if I went this route I would go with the common electric pump for both I think
High back race seats (maybe)
Halibrand 17" wheels
Passanger bar
FFR harness
Engine is up in the air.. Want a stroked 351 but have seen the prices...

Now that I look at my list I have no idea what I really want..

Hey Bob, Im just waiting to get back from Afghanistan to start mine. I up graded to a 15year special and still up in the air about engine size. Maybe Coyote if they get the header and oil pan thing all worked out or a 347. If your looking for a 302 check with Mike Forte, he has a engine and trans package on special right now. I myself am going with the Mosser 8.8 rearend, the low leather seats, full roll bar and thinking about Silver-Gray with one solid Black stripe. Cant wait to start, and you'll find all kind of stuff you want to add, like maybe doorpanels, seat warmers, turn singal on steering wheel....the list goes on, but thats what makes it your car and so much fun. I should be getting mine some time around November-December. Stay in touch.

FYI.. The "Forum Factor" = 3.14159265/1492 x (#of posts) x (# of days on forum)

So as of today your build will actually cost $42,153 + Paint & Tires

We're just starting the "buy" phase. MK4 base kit + a few upgrades from FFR, then a few other bits from other vendors.

It would have been a challenge car if it wasn't for the fact it doesn't have doors. Plan is for a roadster set up for track days, but with a couple of compromises. i.e. second skin for sound/heat reduction (which adds a lot of weight), and a single full width roll bar like the "champ car" roll bar.

351W, stack EFI, power steering. Still undecided on power brakes and ABS. ISIS wiring system and a bunch of Breeze stuff to complete it.

Your "Total Misc" is way underestimated...it should be more like 10K.

Drink the official FFR beer and forget the budget. Budgets and time schedules are just not something you want to include... OK I tried all that and after a while you just know you will do whatever it takes and buy what you need and don't look back. Believe me I paid to have that conclusion.
A few points you may want to watch for don't let a dealer charge you to drop ship a Ford Racing crate engine. Ford pays for that. Another, never buy from a dealer that charges you 3% to charge on your card to make up for their markup. I had a vendor try to do both on the same invoice. Saved about $750.00 on that alone by finding another vendor. Haven't spent a dime there since. If you don't get good service before the sale it won't get better after they have your money.

I had my eye on the Factory Five Cobra for years. The sun and moon finally aligned just right and I took the plunge. March 1st is the start date on production. I went with the complete kit just to speeds things up. As far as engine? I went with the Engine Factory. They’ve been great so far. They’ve been in business for some time and the engine comes with a warranty. It’s their 427W Roller rocker roller cam engine. 538 hp with 500 plus of torque. Can’t wait to drive it. The transmission came from Standard Transmission out of Texas it’s a TKO 600. Joseph that owns the place is a great guy too. These three company’s all work together so the right hand knows what the left is doing. That said, the philosophy is it might save some headaches in the end when you / me start assembling parts.
Looking forward to meeting other Cobra owners and posting my pics one day.

I'm waiting to retire! Could be in the next couple of months. I've been thinking (no planning yet!) of doing the MKIV as a way to keep me busy. From what I'm reading, it will be a whole lot more than the 250 hours F5 puts out in the literature.

I watched FFR for seven years or so while I was doing other car projects, then in the summer of '09 decided that when they did the next promotion, I'd buy. Sure enough, the very next day I received a new DVD and sale flier in the mail, so I placed my order and took delivery in the fall of that year.

I just took possession of a 2 car garage and will pick up my roadster in April...I can`t really say I am a great project planner though...one step at a time.
