Did my first drive two days ago. Was hoping to post a video, but my new Swan has an audio issue. So, vids will have to wait. I'd like to thank the folks who helped me most, in no particular order:

Ron Preston, Don Wood, and PJ Davis (local buddies who helped on the big jobs)

Tom Thompson of AMP performance (donor pallet)

Mike Forte (various bitsas)

Art Cuesta (WireDiet- great wire harness diet and sounding board)

Mark Doughtery (sent by Factory Five to weld on some missing frame tabs, answered several dozen of my prepared questions, removing tons of ambiguity in my mind)

Jeff Kleiner (build threads and ready with answers to PMs)

Gary/gtfireftr (invaluable photobucket build photos and ready with answers to PMs)

Mark Reynolds (I ended up not going with one of his EzePaks, but he graciously spent an hour on the phone with me while I was formulating a build plan).

Jim Jennings from the build school (great instructor, and pointed me in the direction of a donor build when I was getting sticker shock over the crate motor/new parts build approach and about to abandon the dream)

Matt Gardner, instructor at Westminster High School Vocational Body Shop, who's team did bodywork and paint at materials cost, precluding me from going the dreaded rattle can flat black approach.

This forum, without which this newbie to car construction could never have finished the job, and which is so pleasantly free of flame wars.

Factory Five Racing, without whom this wouldn't have been possible

Carroll Shelby, ditto!

Car is a Mark 4, picked up 9/25/2010, using an '04 Mach 1 donor (DOHC 4.6, Tremec 3650), 3 link w/3.55, Kirkey highback seats, heater, seat heaters, front blocked/vented top hood scoop serves as air extractor....

Denny,
Well - I'm retired so had a lot more free time, and I subcontracted the paint/bodywork out, and the details/craftmanship of your build put mine in the shade; but other than that I guess I'm just lucky! Your's looks done too, what are you waiting on? Inspection?

Nahhhh. Rustoleum hi temp BBQ flat black paint, over Rustoleum hi temp primer. Rapidly acquiring a nice patina. And, I still have half a can left for a redo after I inevitably leave a patch of skin on the pipes when getting out of the car (I'm super conscious of not doing so right now, but have no doubt that someday I'll forget).

Thanks all for the nice complements. Driving it is equally as (OK, more than on some of the build days) fun than building it. Can't go anywhere without thumbs up, honks from passing drivers, people chatting at stop lights, chatting in parking lots when I'm arriving or leaving. I find myself proselytizing Factory Five as if I was a missionary to China in the 19th century. LOL

livin' the dream...

Looks awesome Rick!

And I learned a new word today :)pros·e·ly·tize verb \ˈprä-s(ə-)lə-ˌtīz\
pros·e·ly·tized pros·e·ly·tiz·ing

Definition of PROSELYTIZE

intransitive verb
1
: to induce someone to convert to one's faith

2
: to recruit (http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/recruit[1]) someone to join one's party, institution, or cause

Building an FFR truly *is* a religious experience!

Your car looks great. The high school paint job looks better than some of the pro jobs. Congratulations.

Beautiful car! Glad to see another mod motor-powered roadster on the road. Can you post some more photos (interior, engine bay, more details on the hood scoop modifications, etc.)?

Great job!

Post some more photos? "We don't need to post more stinkin' photos!"

Instead, here's the link to my Photobucket dumping ground, containing 500 + photos and videos, more minutiae than you can shake a stick at. Feel free to ask me questions about any of them (e.g. "Rick, what the hell is that you're trying to capture on picture XXX?")
