My computer is in my home office. The only living thing that can look over my shoulder is a rather large, loud chipmunk that likes to lounge on my sunroom roof. How do I get Windows to stop masking the password entry box. I looked on the web, but everything I found was a scam site looking for me to input the password I wanted to "find". I was born at night, but not last night. I'm perfectly willing to input my passwords, I just want to see what I'm typing.

Usually its part of the software package ffr is using for the forum. They could probably modify the code to change it but then everytime they have a software upgrade they would need to rewrite that specific part of the code...

The question isn't forum specific.

Sorry, didnt see that.. I think the same answer applies though.. Each of these password boxes is specific to the application you are trying to access... I don't think it has anything to do with windows settings..

I know this doesn't give you a direct answer but some of the password fields on my BlackBerry can be set so you can read the letters instead of *******...although, if you made your password " ****** " you would see what you are typing. :D

Here is a link that has a bunch of different applications that will do the job.

Have you thought about using a password manager instead?
I have been using Roboform (http://www.roboform.com/) for several years now and I would be lost without it. When it recongizes a page that you have saved a password for, it will auto fill in the info for you. It actually saved my bacon one time - I was selling a motorcycle on eBay and a short time after the auction ended I received an email through eBay from a "prospective" buyer. When I went to the link in the email to log in to my account to read the email, RoboForm wouldn't ill in the info and I was wondering why. I then realized I had been spoofed and It was on a bogus eBay web page
The program normally costs $30 - but you can get it for free for signing up for an offer at the TrialPay (http://www.trialpay.com/campaign/?c=djojaj&cat=0) website - like apply for a new credit card, etc. When I did it, one of the offers was through Geico Insurance, you ask for a quote and you got RoboForm for free

My typing skills suck. I just want to be able to see what I'm typing. In typical Microsoft fashion, this is much harder than it needs to be.
