Earlier this month, James Keast came by Factory Five to pick-up his Mk4 Roadster complete kit with his father Dave and two of his kids, Justin and Allie. Like so many, it was a day James has been dreaming about for a long time and after some careful planning, he was finally able to make it a reality.

Factory Five President Dave Smith with James, his father Dave, and two of his kids, Justin and Allie.

“We had a great conversation about the “adventure” my kids and I are embarking on,” wrote James. “After all these years and thousands of deliveries, Dave [Smith] was genuinely excited for us and perhaps a bit saddened that he was not going to be scraping knuckles with us!”

Future driver Allie is starting to get a feel for the Roadster.

Congratulations to the Keast Family and we’re looking forward to progress updates during your build!

Congrats, Keast family, on the great adventure! I LOVED building a Mk3 mostly by myself but the fun and rewards would have been much greater with family involved. Bon voyage.

Outstanding! Great fun is ahead. I'm getting ready to drop the motor in mine and have had a blast with the help from family and friends. Enjoy Nick C

Sounds like a fun project. I would delegate those really hateful tasks off on the fam, like drilling and riveting. I hated that. Building mine by myself but get lots of moral support from family and friends. Good luck on your adventure. By the way, who's the boss running this show? WEK.

Thank you all for your support! We are having a great time and I'm surprised at how far we have gotten at this point; Front suspension, Rear diff (which we rebuilt from a 89 Mustang GT w/track lok) and steering are all in. Going with the FF5 Willwood brakes front and back but need to save some more nickels before purchase. Still thinking of color. Planning on Ford racing "306" crate with Eldelbrock Pro-Flo 2 EFI. We are taking our time and the kids are getting practical hands experience and knowledge... and keeping off video games.

Being married for 20 years and knowing my wife for 10 more, makes her the boss of the show! The kids love the riveting. I picked up an air/hydraulic rivet gun from Harbor Freight (http://www.harborfreight.com/3-16-inch-air-hydraulic-riveter-93458.html) that makes it "fun". I will be subbing out the body work and paint! Good luck with your build as well!
