Getting everything prepped to install the clutch assembly and bellhousing but first need to put in the pilot bushing. I ended up with both a roller bearing and plain bronze type. Was going to use the roller one but when I picked up my engine from the shop, the mechanic who had set it up on the test stand told me to use a plain bronze one. The said that unless the input shaft is absolutely in alignment, it will tear into the roller bearings but would just wear the bronze bushing.

I performed the bellhousing alignment procedure today using a dial indicator and fortunately, my bellhousing (Quick Time) is within spec so I won’t need any offset dowel pins.

Would appreciate your opinions on the pilot bushing.

Many thanks,

Ron

Seen issues with both, I prefer the plain bronze less to go wrong.

Thanks Tony.

I looked at all of those small bearing parts inside the roller bearing yesterday and went ahead and installed the plain bronze bearing. Like you I figured there are less parts to fail.

I'm certainly feeling much better about my installing the good ol' plain bronze bushing now!!

Thanks!
