I got home to my parents (where the car is for another month) for a couple of days. He got the engine/transmission mated and test fitted in the car. Here are some pics.

Good pan clearance. This is with a .75" spacer on both front engine mounts and a .25" transmission spacer.

Nice! Ls7 clutch? What pan are you using? mine hangs under the rails about 1/4 - 1/2 an inch. :-(

Dave,

LS6 clutch. The pan is off a LS2 corvette motor. We had to raise the engine mounts by 3/4" to get the clearance. The quicktime bellhousing lip hangs down below the pan by 3/4", but we are going to cut that off.

I used the Champ 10 QT pan and it is flush with the bottom of the frame rails. I was concerned with the oil problems that the LS has in Corvettes under a high G load in turns. The Champ has 4 trap doors to control the 10 QTS of oil. My Coupe has seen 1.8 G's peak lateral on R compounds. With the pan flush here is how much hood clearance I have:

Now you see it:

Now you don't:

BTW the box is about 4" tall.
