Rear axel housing vent/breather

When I was in Spokane racing last week, noticed oil on back of car (and so did the other spec racer), seems that that there is oil coming from the Rear housing vent/breather (have not verified this yet) and dripping down on the banana bracket, anyone else seen this or have this issue? Cause?

I had it at RunN'Gun while running on the banks of oval turn #3 & 4 at Gateway International. I think the Gs on the sustained lefthanders were sending oil to the RH axle tube allowing a bit to puke thru the vent. I removed the vent, installed a 1/4 NPT to AN4 fitting then ran about an 18" length of braided #4 hose up to the chassis and secured it. The end is open to atmosphere to allow venting . No more issues with spitting gear lube.

Was that 1/4 or 1/8 NPT that goes into the axel housing?

I installed a longer vent tube in my street car also, just make sure you put a 180° curve at the top somehow to keep water out.

You know Tony, now that I think about it and envision how large it is I bet it is 1/8". It's been 4 years ago and I can't even remember what was for dinner last night... You probably better remove it to be sure!

It's an odd size as it has 7/16-20 thread size (and was loose) and was a nasty thing to get out as it was right up against the banana bracket

the answer is hose to catch can
my favorite is to use a old water bottle ( they are lite )
