UPDATED 5/20/16 - Digging deep in the vault for this rehash of an old how-to that may help those of you using the cable and a donor pedal system. Not sure if this would work with the routing when using Wilwood pedals, though.

Original post follows.....

Just thought I'd post a couple pictures of how I installed my clutch cable (347 w/T-5). By removing, reversing, and reinstalling the OEM bracket that came on the cable, I was able to mount it directly to the main 4" chassis tube. For the mounting bolt, I drilled the hole with a #7 bit, then tapped it for 1/4-20. I then drilled another hole nearby for the locating tab that keeps the bracket from rotating. The only modification to the bracket was a slight bend in the locating tab so that it seated fully in the hole. This installation allows the cable to be situated in the exact plane where it was when under pedal pressure and has quite a bit of clearance from the headers. I'll still add some heat shielding to the cable housing for good measure, though.

I did something very similar except the cable runs on the other side of the motor mount. Yours might be better because its further away from the header.

Fred - are you using the Wilwood pedals? It looks like your cable comes out to the far left (driver's side) of the front of the footbox. In my case, I'm using the stock pedals ('94 SN95 version).

Yes...Wilwood so it is the left side (as you're sitting in the car).

Where's the clutch cable on the stock pedals?

On the stock pedals, the clutch quadrant is to the far right side of the pedal assembly (as you're sitting in the car), so the cable exits the front of the footbox at the top corner nearest the engine. Unfortunately, that pointed it straight at my twin canister remote master cylinders, but I was able to make it work without any contact once everything was put in the final position and tightened down. I'll post another picture of the full cable routing tonight when I get home.

That's probably why you had the cable length to run on the inside of the motor mount.

Thanks...

Couple extra pics showing clearance of cable and other parts:

Hi Fred
Great help for the cable bracket

Hi Fred
This really helps with the cable bracket position
I noticed that your oil pressure sensor sits away from the block - did you use an adapter/spacer?
i noticed I don't have enough space to mount it directly to the block as the fuel pump is in the way

thanks

I used this type of product from Mike Forte.

Digging way back for today's TTT on an old how-to topic. This worked well given that I used a donor hangar for the brake/clutch pedals.

Hopefully someone will let us know if this works with a cable actuated clutch when using the Wilwood pedals.
